Although I thought this would be a good winter activity, the suction cup doesn't even fit in the home provided in the unicorn so my child was pretty disappointed that they couldn't hang it on the window as intended

I am sorry to hear that your child was disappointed when they couldn't hang the unicorn. I think what may have happened is that you tried to put the suction cup through the hole on the unicorn when in fact it is the piece of silver string that is provided in the package that goes through the hole and then attaches to the suction cup. I believe if you try this, you will successfully hang it on the window.
